____
The second activity from the European Solidarity Corps program in 2023 was successfully implemented.
During August and September, this years’ 2nd group of young volunteers stayed in the Sošice Visitor Center, and with their selfless work, we managed to clean up waste in numerous locations. Thanks to them, the village of Sošice, the surrounding hiking and educational trails, streams and forests, and several locations throughout this Nature Park finally got cleaned up from large and mixed municipal waste that had been accumulating for years, damaging the environment and threatening the health of all its inhabitants.
Hardworking volunteers separated the collected waste, which we carefully removed from the Park, but during their stay, volunteers also learned a lot about the specifics of this Nature Park, got to know the local population and helped them with their daily tasks. We are happy that, with the help of the European Solidarity Corps, we managed to get funds and implement this year’s planned volunteer activities, which raised the quality of the work of the Visitor Center to a higher level. While we are bringing this project to an end, we are already planning the same activities for next year.
The overall value of the project, which lasts from June 1st til November 30th, is €23,320 and is co-financed by the European Union.
